Get Involved: Sealants for Smiles! adheres to the strictest science-based practices. The dentists and dental hygienists who are selected to participate in the program are respected leaders in dentistry, child health advocates, and certified by the program.
Become a ProviderIn preparation for events, each year providers complete calibration training in the standardized oral health screening protocol the program employs and delivery of preventative dental services in schools. During the orientation process providers relay to the Program Coordinator their event availability and preferences and sign the Volunteer Agreement that states they are a licensed Montana provider in good standing and will keep children's health information private.
There's no need to bring any supplies. We'll do all of that! However, for your comfort, there are a few items you should probably bring: loupes, headlamp, water, and a snack. Clothing type is optional, however most providers choose to either wear scrubs or business casual clothing.
In light of Covid-19 we want everyone to know that we are committed to protecting both volunteers and school children with more comprehensive PPE and infection control tools. That being said, if there are any special items you would like to bring to an event for that purpose we strongly encourage you to do so.
Sealants for Smiles! events serve as a fun opportunity for teams to volunteer together! Not only do dentists typically feel the most comfortable with their own staff but volunteering as a team tends to foster stronger working relationships within the group! Dentists who bring their own staff to an event may be able to claim the resources spent on paid staff and mileage on their taxes as a donation.
